Wednesday 14 January
Out for my now usual run at 7:30 am after some stretching. I ran to the harbour at Los Gigantes this morning. I went out by the 'short cut', up the hill and down the long flight of stairs to pick up the path to Los Gigantes. I went round the harbour, turned at the end and headed back. This time I managed to pick up the path round the cliff to return and maintained a good steady pace all the way. I had a good workout and the weather was again perfect for running, dry with a slight cool breeze blowing. I stretched at the pool side when I finished and my time for today's run was 41:25 minutes, again about 7 km.
After breakfast we had a half an hour learning some Spanish from the computer course. This was still a refresher as we had done these bits before and it is slowly beginning to come back to us. When we finished Moira went out to Mercadona to do some shopping, I stayed in and managed to finish the 'Sunday Telegraph' prize crossword and submitted it. I had the radio on, via the Internet, and listened to BBC Radio 4.
When Moira got back she wasn't feeling very good, cold and shivery. She had a lie down after lunch for an hour. She was feeling better and we went out for a walk. We took the route that I run along to the end of town and along the dirt coastal path. It was very warm now and the haze of the last few days had cleared and we got nice views over the sea. We now noticed another island just off the coast; this was La Gomera, one of the smaller islands in the Canaries. After about half an hour Moira was feeling bad again and we turned and headed back. It had been an hour's walk and it got us out in the fresh air for a while.
We didn't do much when we got back, Moira relaxed out on the veranda while I sat inside and read until the quizzes came on the TV. After dinner Moira went to bed early and I watched a couple of programmes that I had downloaded from iPlayer when we were in Cardiff. Later I watched some football on TV, a FA Cup replay, but fell asleep on the couch before the end.
