Spinning at the gym on TENERIFE

Monday 20 January.

I ran up the hill past the 'short cut' stairs to the top where the supermarket Lidl was. I wanted to check out that you could get to Lidl this way as Moira was going there today for the weekly shop. I came down the hill to the path across to the bus stance at Los Gigantes. Form there I ran to the resort and along to the beach where we went yesterday on our walk. It was a long climb up the hills to the very top roundabout again then down to the other roundabout at Lidl. I went back along the contour to the gym and home. I was taking it easy until the contour where a girl ran past me, I picked up my pace and stayed with her until the steep downhill to he main road. It was a good run and it kept the legs moving. My time this morning was 49:07 minutes.

After stretching it was upstairs for breakfast. This morning we were both going to the gym, I wanted to do the spinning class at 10 am. We left too early and it was 9:30 am when we got there. Moira went to the cardio room and did some cycling and walking on the treadmill. I went to the gym first and worked on my abs with sit-ups and hip extensions, I also did some stretching then twists and bends for my back. The spinning class wasn't very inventive but it was hard. The instructor just had variations in the positions you put your hands on the handlebars and whether you were sitting or standing on the pedals. It was very energetic and a lot of people taking part, I was dripping with sweat by the finish. Moira was waiting for me she had done 20 minutes cycling and the same on the treadmill walking. We had an easy walk back in the warm sunshine.

The Internet wasn't working very well, it seemed to be coming and going. I tried the radio and it would play fine but then stopped. I would have to play around with the settings to get it tuned in again only for it to conk out after a few minutes. I gave up and read the paper, did the crossword and then read some of my book. This book from the library online is about a child's life in the 60's. A lot of it is just a repeat of the last one, 'life in the 50's' but otherwise quite interesting, bringing back memories.

It was normal Monday night TV, quiz night. There was 'The Chase', 'Eggheads', 'Uni Challenge' and 'Only Connect'. After the last one Moira went to bed but I stayed up to watch the first part of 'Silent Witness'.
