Monday 2 February.
I decided to give running a miss this morning and give my legs a rest today. But, I planned to go to the gym after breakfast for a workout; I had to do some exercise. I managed to get the newspaper downloaded successfully and read it while in bed with a cup of tea. When I got up I read my book after breakfast for an hour before heading to the gym. Moira left at the same time as me to do the shopping at Lidl. I arranged to be back at 11:30 am for her to be down to open the gate.
The weather wasn't particularly bright this morning, a lot of thick cloud about and not very warm. I walked briskly up the hill to get the blood flowing and ready for my gym session. When I got there the doors were closed, I thought I had miscalculated the opening time but then noticed a sign on the door; it was a public holiday today and the gym was closed. I didn't have a key to get back into the complex or the flat and with the arrangement was to meet Moira at the gate at 11:30 am another hour and a half. I decided to head for Lidl and meet Moira there. I continued up the hill and along the contour road to the roundabout at Lidl. As I strode out at a fast pace to get there while she was still shopping I was worried that it would also be closed because of the holiday. It wasn't and I found Moira in one of the aisles with most of the shopping done.
When she completed the shopping we headed down the hill back to the complex. On the way we called in at an excursion/boat trip office and booked on the water taxi back from Masca Bay to Los Gigantes tomorrow at 4:30 pm. We were planing to do the walk from Santiago del Tride to Masca village then down through the gorge to the bay where we would catch the boat back. The 4:30 pm water taxi was the last one of the day, we reckoned that should give us plenty of time to complete the walks. The woman said that if we got to the end sooner we could catch an earlier boat providing it wasn't full. With that booking made we carried on to the complex and Moira did some more shopping at the supermarket outside the gate, getting some things not available at Lidl or cheaper.
The rest of the day was spent in the flat. We sat outside on the veranda to have lunch but it was a bit cold still and we were soon indoors where it was warmer. During the afternoon we listened to the radio, read and I managed a crossword. I also returned to my write up of the Via Francigena. I edited three or four days from my diary and also managed to track down about 20 days that were missing from what I had stored on Google+. I found them on the word processing programme on the iPad and transferred that to Google+ and from there was able to copy them to Microsoft Word on the Notebook.
In the evening it was the usual Monday quizzes. We managed to answer a few of the questions on 'Uni Challenge' and figure out some of the puzzles on 'Only Connect', which pleased us. After that it was the first part of this week's 'Silent Witness' but I couldn't hear it very well as they tend to mumble and didn't have a clue what it was about. Moira had gone to bed early as she doesn't like the programme and I turned in at 10 pm.
