Better weather on TENERIFE.

Monday 9 February.

My thigh was getting better but I gave it another day's rest. I stayed in bed with a cup of tea, read the paper then watched the news and sport report on the TV before getting up. I made the breakfast while Moira was having her shower. Even though I wasn't running it didn't mean that there was no exercise, I went to the gym. Moira was going to Mercadona to do the weekly shop and walk with me to the corner of the hill up to he gym.

I spent an hour on my workout and after warming up with light dumbbells I concentrated first on my abs with crunches, sit-ups, twists, side bends and leg raises. Next it was exercises for my back and shoulders on various machines. I am starting to increase the weights comfortably. I walked briskly back to the flat and Moira had just got in before me, right on time to open the gate.

The weather was very nice again; the sky was cloudless and blue, it was getting lovely and warm. We sat outside for lunch and I had the radio on to listen to. I read the paper and managed the crossword. Later in the afternoon I edited a few more days of our Via Francigena pilgrimage to eventually make into a book. I managed to complete 6 days, but there is still lots to go.

Monday was the normal quiz night on TV but in between the early ones and 'Uni Challenge' we watched a DVD. It was the BBC TV series of Wainwright's 'Coast to Coast' walk. There was a DVD player in the drawer beneath the TV and it was just a matter of disconnecting the scarf plug from the Freeview box and plugging it into the DVD. We are hoping to do this walk when we get back to the UK in the Spring. It was good and it gave us an idea of what we have ahead of us.

After 'Only Connect' there was 'New Tricks'; I thought it was to be a new series but it was an old one. I think we may have seen it before but we weren't sure and it was quite good anyway.
